Av8 Barbers, at 3307 Waters Avenue, is a barber shop owned by entrepreneur Michelle Rouzer, a name you may recognize as owner of 40 Volume Salon. AV8 is named for her husband Charlie who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army. He is also a fixed wing pilot who flies for Military Intelligence, he will be taking his final duty station in Savannah and will be taking over Command of the 224 MI Battalion on Hunter. He is currently at 18 years of service. Not only is the shop named for a great man but you can also expect the same high standards that are known through every branch of the military. But even though the standards are high, the vibe is kick back, relax, grab a beer while you wait and enjoy a little time being taken care of.
Don’t miss the grand opening on Friday, June 25th from 6pm-9pm where they will have drinks, appetizers and music.

Are men & women welcome?

Yes, men and women are welcome. We definitely specialize in men’s cuts at Av8 but we can accommodate any women’s cut. If you are wanting a more in-depth service we would refer you to our sister company 40 Volume. Another specialty for Av8 is quickly becoming our little men clients.

What sets you apart from other barber shops in Savannah? Do you have a specialty?

I think what sets us apart is our camaraderie, we want everyone that comes in to feel like they belong there. Great customer service and a great haircut are our two most important core values. We want you to come in have a beer while you wait and enjoy a little time being taken care of.

Do you provide services outside of hair? Shave, spa treatments, etc?

We are waiting on licensure to offer straight razor shaves and hope to have it within the next month. We offer, grey blending, a color service where we can gently disguise that unwanted grey hair that comes in. It won’t fully cover your grey but will just shade is a little darker and keep it natural looking. We also offer men’s facial waxing services. It that one thing no one really likes to talk about but is a great little upkeep.

Do you have a specific product line you use?

We have Baxter, Gibbs and just recently brought in a brand new line STMNT. We do also offer men’s grey blending color services from Redken Color Camo.

What do you love about Savannah?

What isn’t there to love about Savannah, I have been blessed to live here for 25 years now and have loved every minute of it. Charlie has gone off to new duty stations and deployments over the last 16 years that we have been together but we have always known that Savannah is where we always want to call home. I have had the privilege of staying put and growing our companies. Savannah is such and incredible city of some of the most amazing people. There is beauty to be seen everywhere here, not only our historical beauty but also who we are as a culture. Savannah is an eclectic group of people but that is what makes it so amazing. We can have people from all different walks of life in one place and there is so much collaboration and love between each other, I just love our city.

What makes you feel most accomplished?

I think what makes me feel most accomplished is when seeing my dream of owning a salon or Barbershop turns into a fulfillment of my teams dreams. I have always wanted to create a work environment for my team that they could flourish and grow into all that they desire and be completely supported and cheered on  the entire way. Creating positive work spaces and being able to drive and mentor them so that they can bring their skills into our salon or barbershop and give incredible customer service with a great haircut making all of our clients feel good and happy. Being able to complete that full circle of building a great environment, having great staff and providing incredible services to our clients is something I constantly strive for.

If you only had one night to spend in Savannah…what would you do?

Not sleep…spend the entire night walking around and soaking up all of the beautiful sights that Savannah has to offer. Just walking the streets and squares of downtown is breath taking. Stopping along the way at a few great shops and restaurants.
