September 1st is the grand opening and if you’re soaking up some much needed Vitamin D at Tybee Island, don’t miss the newest addition to the Tybee Restaurant scene, Cockspur Grill.
John Branigin and Spec Hosti are long-time residents of Tybee Island. They are both retired and have been friends for a couple of years. When they heard that the 80 East Gastropub’s restaurant space (725-B 1st Street Tybee Island) was becoming available, they thought, “Why not us?” They chose the name Cockspur Grill because the Cockspur Lighthouse is one of the first things you see when you cross the Lazaretto Creek Bridge onto Tybee Island.
Luckily, the duo has very little renovation on the space…with some touch up painting and cleaning they are planning to open their doors in early August. Hours will be Tuesday – Friday 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm and Saturday – Sunday 11:00 am – 11:00 pm. They will strictly follow all Governor’s COVID orders in place for safety upon their opening.
Cockspur Grill will be a low key and relaxing place for locals & tourists alike. You will find good food, tasty drinks and fun times with a full service bar, check out the menu: Cockspur Grill Menu. And you can order take out directly from their website (cockspurgrill.com – temporarily under construction). If you’re looking for a shady spot to enjoy your meal, look no further than the awesome outdoor patio, partially shaded by a beautiful, large live oak.
The team is hoping to have live music from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons and you can show off your smarts with a weekly trivia night (TBD).
