You may have noticed some activity in Twelve Oaks recently. Jason Ford, Kara Ford & Brad Sellars have been hard at work making what they thought was a “far-fetched grand scheme,” a reality. They are creating a kitchen + bar that they would want to visit and be proud of and hopefully, everyone can appreciate. The team is planning to open in mid-July and have named their baby OAK 36.
The trio started working on the project pre-COVID and have taken advantage of the quiet time to fine-tune the concept. They have enlisted the talents of Chef Dusty Grove, formerly of Pacci, Edgar Proof & Provision and currently SCAD executive chef, to create the menu and serve as their food visionary. Whether you’re looking for something healthy for lunch, slightly sinful for Happy Hour, want to watch a game or hang late night, the menu is a nice spread of elevated American classics and plant-forward dishes. And you can’t have a kitchen + bar without a bar. They are taking a lot of care to create a locally-driven bar program and social atmosphere that truly feels comfortable and easy to enjoy.
Partner, Brad Sellars, has a background in Savannah’s nightlife as an amazing DJ. He has taken the reigns of “social chair” and is lining up fun and exciting events for almost every night of the week…from karaoke, live music, guest DJs, trivia and more. OAK 36 will also be a hot spot for big sporting events (NFL, NBA, MLB, UFC, etc) and have strategically spread TVs around the space so not to be too intrusive to others who are not watching, but for those who want to watch a game, there is no bad seat in the house.
On those beautiful Savannah days and evenings, you can enjoy a covered patio space with eight outdoor tables.
OAK 36 is getting a new interior, they are working with Holmes & Salter Interiors on the functionality of the space. And of course, being in Twelve Oaks has it’s perks…everyone knows where it is, it’s central location serves a lot of people throughout the day and has something that is hard to come by in the Savannah restaurant scene…PARKING!
Ultimately, OAK 36 will be a casual, comfortable, social space where everyone feels welcome and excited to return. Keep reading ScoutSavannah.com to find out more about restaurants opening and what’s happening around town!
