Get some 2020 frustrations out by hurling an axe safely! Savannah Axe will open at 410 West Jones this fall in a newly renovated location only half a mile from the city market. You can expect 3300+ square feet and at least 10 lanes where people can experience this hot, new trend of axe-throwing.

Owner, Charles Sanderson is committed to providing a safe, yet comfortable environment where participants can experience the art of axe-throwing. Mr. Sanderson has been a small business owner for 6 years, with business in different industries. Building businesses, renovating older buildings and creating an atmosphere for people to enjoy are the projects that keep him going.

You might be wondering what you can expect from an axe-throwing experience? The first thing you will need to do is make a reservation through the throwsavannahaxe.com site (coming soon) for a 1 hour minimum. The recommended time is 2 hours for groups of 6 or more. When you arrive, you’ll sign a waiver, pay for your session and meet your “axepert” or coach for the night. When your lane is ready, the axepert will be available to take you to your lane and go through the safety and instructional rundown. After, the axepert gives the rundown, everyone starts throwing and the axepert is there to make tweaks to your throw and give tips and pointers. Once everyone has the hang of it, game variations will be explained. Because of the hands on training the sport is designed to be family friendly and enjoyable for all.

The space where the axe-throwing will take place is similar to a batting cage with heavy-duty walls and wire-fencing surrounding targets on the sides and top. On the front wall is a wooden target with a bullseye. Throwers aim at the target and earn points depending on where their axes land.  A true, standard game, consists of 10 throws and the person with the higher score after 10 throws is the winner. But…don’t worry about getting bored because there are over 100 different games that can be played and Savannah Axe will have a booklet available that explains each game and how to play.

Savannah Axe will be available for private events. Mr. Sanderson builds his facilities to fit the client’s needs and the space is set up to host a company meeting or presentations as well as birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, etc. They are committed to building packages that work for each event individually.

Upon opening, the establishment will not offer food or beverage, but a bar is planned for the new year. The location will allow customers to bring in their own food or you may get delivery right to the location while throwing.

You can also expect COVID procedures to be taken seriously. They will limit the number of parties that come in, ensure social distancing between patrons, masks will be available on request, hand sanitizer readily available and all axes, tables, chairs will be sanitized in between groups.

You are not going to want to miss out on this pulse-pounding, adrenaline filled-fun as you hone your axe-throwing skills one throw at a time. Who knows you might even join one of the leagues planned for the new year.
