Today we are going for an all-day date kinda thing. It involves produce, possible drinking and the perfect dinner menu. If that sounds like something that is right up your alley, then please read on.
Saturday at the Market
9:45am – Grab a cup of fuel and a quick pastry at the Sentient Bean
10:00am – You are going on a treasure hunt for the perfect ingredients at Forsyth Farmer’s Market. I have taken the liberty of picking out a menu for you, but of course you can tailor this to your taste. I chose some recipes that will taste like you are a culinary professional but are actually easy. You might want to buy some of the spices ahead of time and call 920 Cattle and Co or Hunter Cattle to make sure they are bringing some fashion of lamb chop to the market. You could always substitute a steak as well. Pick out some seasonal veggies and of course some crusty bread and cheese to tide you over while you look dreamily into each other’s eyes while chopping veggies. Don’t forget the fresh picked flowers to set the perfect table.
Cheese and Bread
11:30am-Next you will need that perfect beverage to accompany your culinary masterpiece. Lucky for you we have a couple of pro’s right in the area.
Le Chai Galerie du Vin-Mr. Christian Depken is the owner of this fine establishment and lucky for us a knowledgeable wine connoisseur. It is as easy as giving him your menu and letting him know what you like. You will leave with the perfect wine accompaniment for your evening. Also, feel free to rest your feet and sip on one of the featured wines of the day at the counter. Make sure to ask Mr. Depken about the perfect pour and glass.
White Whale Craft Ales-If wine is not for you just keep walking a little further down Bull Street where you will find the perfect store of craft ales. This is complete with a tasting room in case you want to sample the wares first. It’s most likely 5 o’clock somewhere.
Brighter Day-If non-alcoholic beverages are more your speed then make a quick stop at Brighter Day to pick up some juice, tea or coffee. This is also a great place to pick up any last-minute items needed.
12:30pm – Next stop dessert. Work your way to Fork & Dagger to pick up one of the best cheesecakes you will ever have the pleasure of eating. The flavors of the slices and minis change daily but if you prefer to pick your flavor and would like a whole cake then you should call 2-3 days prior to order for $35.
Now all that is left is to take a short nap and pick the perfect movie or game before you start preparing your romantic dinner date at home.
