What do you get when you cross Chris Dickerson of Squirrel’s Pizza and Corner Taco with a 1965 Air Stream? Burrito Royale a cool, shiny mobile burrito machine. Although the Burrito Royale has the ability to move from venue to venue, for the moment it is happiest at 2508 Whitaker. You can visit this site starting on March 12th from 11:30am to 2:30pm for lunch and 6:00pm to 8:00pm for dinner. If you stop by over the weekend then the hours are 11:30am to 8:00pm. Right now Burrito Royale is a grab-n-go situation as the city has mandated no tables and chairs at this time. The hope is that this will change down the road with the help of the patrons to confirm that greater access to food trucks and cool, outdoor venues is definitely something that the community wants.
Although the Air Stream has a new home, don’t think this is its first burrito rodeo. It’s been on the road since 2011 starting in Jacksonville and then moving through the South. The burrito game is tried and true and here are some of what you can expect from this rotating menu: General Tso’s Chicken, Dijon Buttermilk Fried Chicken w/ Housemade Sriracha, Georgia Fried Shrimp w/ Habanero Hot Sauce, General Tso’s Seared Asparagus, Dijon Buttermilk Fried Chicken Banh Mi w/ Tangy Hot Carrots & Jalapeńos and more. Every burrito is under $10 and contains Basmati cilantro rice, black beans, white cheddar cheese, and the sauce in the description plus a side of tortilla chips.
If you are looking for a semi-swanky burrito experience and who isn’t? Go check out Burrito Royale this weekend, grab a $10 specialty and if you are having a hard time figuring out which one to get then fall back on Chris’s favorites the General Tso’s chicken and the Sour Cherry Tenderloin Asada.
