Today’s conditions have us spending more time than ever at home thinking, “I could really use a lamp here, bigger end tables and maybe a one-of-a-kind vintage piece for storage.” But what is an easy way to find one-of-a-kind items in Savannah? That is where Elizabeth Demos and Erica Kelly, two vintage obsessed friends that found each other over a shared quest for old things and rattan furniture come in. Both women have impressive resumes and incredible style. So rather than spending your day scrolling, why not let Found Objects Market do what they do best. Read below to find out the best way to contact Elizabeth and Erica and let them take your vision and make it a reality.
Please tell us the best way for a person to shop with you?
The best way to shop with us collectively is by attending one of our seasonal pop up sales hosted in my photo studio. Both Erica and I welcome sales via our individual Instagram accounts @eastwesttradingco and @copperseal or through direct message. We are always on the hunt and love a good wish list from customers. We also both stock spaces at Tapley’s Mercantile.
Where do you find the treasures that stock your market and how do you decide what to buy?
We travel both near and far to attend antique fairs, auctions, estate sales, as well as, consignment and second hand stores. And our idea of a fun time is digging through the occasional attic or barn.
What are your favorite items to shop for?
We are both drawn to rattan furniture, woven trays and baskets, old glassware, brass accessories, boxes, textiles, landscape paintings, lamps, rugs, curiosities and unusual objects. Elizabeth has an eye for things with a more industrial country vibe like vintage school items, old chemistry glassware, coastal antiques and books, silver flatware, pottery and rusty things. Erica has more of an old world international style. She is always on the look out for sculptural items, blue and white porcelain, gorgeous rugs, old world figurines, cocktail glasses and stemware, art prints, mirrors, masks, brass candlesticks, boxes and trays.
What sets Found Objects apart from other sellers?
“We manage to effortlessly merge both our styles in a fun and energetic environment. It’s an acquisitions and mergers kind of business really. We find cool things and merge them with the right customer.”
“Found Objects Market takes the legwork out of finding home décor and furniture with a bit of history. The whole market looks cohesive, but there’s something for every type of design style.”
What is your favorite purchase you’ve ever made?
“This is a bit like asking if you have a favorite child…perhaps I could share a category instead. I adore things that reflect a life on the water. Antique watercolor and oil paintings of the coast, antique boats, shell collections, engravings, and antique rattan furniture”
My favorite purchases usually live in my own home for a bit until they’re replaced with something even better. That’s the benefit of having what we call “picker’s choice”!
What do you love about Savannah?
“I love the weather, the proximity to the coast, the culture and the history”
“Savannah has a magnetic energy for creative people. That’s evident in our art, music, and food scene. But what’s best about Savannah is its diversity, and how we all share a love for our city’s natural beauty despite our differences.”
What makes you feel accomplished?
“Feeling content, comfortable and confident about my direction in life. It’s the sum of where I’ve been, both the good and the bad”
“Being able to make a business out of something that brings me so much joy.”
If you had one night to spend in Savannah…what would you do?
“A boat ride to Wyld Dock Bar
for dinner with friends and family”
“A well-stocked picnic in the park during one of our music festivals.”
