Both born and raised in Savannah, GA, Lyn Avenue is comprised of songwriters CC Witt and Patrick Ellington. Their writing style is rooted in sharp lyricism and memorable melodies, organically blending elements of Americana, Folk and Classic Country with just the right amount of Southern charm. There is always a story to be told with Lyn Avenue and you can guarantee that you’ll be wanting to sing along. Check out their website for upcoming tour dates and events.
What does a typical morning look like for you?
When we’re not on the road, mornings involve coffee, making breakfast together and snuggles with our Mainecoon cat, Martin.
What do you love about Savannah?
Savannah is home. Like our song about Savannah says, we love our “Little Big City Town.” We love the people, the pace of life here, and all the things that come with Southern coastal living – the beach, going out in the boat, amazing fresh seafood and seeing some beautiful sunsets. We’ve been fortunate enough to travel all over the U.S. and it’s without question that Savannah truly is special. But of course, we’re a little bit biased.
If by chance someone wasn’t familiar with Lyn Avenue, what is the song you would like them to listen to and why?
Our single, “Sophisticated” from our new album. I think it captures our personalities, sense of humor and gives an overall definition of our sound!
The thing that makes you feel most accomplished?
Finishing a song! Sometimes when we have a song we’re working on, we hit a wall and have to move on to the next idea so it’s definitely a great feeling to finish a song especially when you see it all the way through the recording process.
What’s next for Lyn Avenue?
Through all of the down time that we had with self-quarantine, we definitely had time to plan some cool things for later this year that we’re excited about. But as businesses are starting to open back up, we’ve finally started playing again which feels so amazing. So at this point we have been in the process of rescheduling our tour in support of our new album… so what’s next? Hopefully a very busy second half of 2020!
If you had one night to spend in Savannah…what would Lyn Avenue do?
One of our favorite spots to start the night out at is Treylor Park – we’re a big fan of the pickle back shot and the PB&J wings! Then we would head over to Congress street. We love catching some of our musician friends playing – usually Damon and the Shitkickers or the Train Wrecks. And the night would probably end at Congress Street Up – we think they have the best whiskey sour in town.
