Morgan Rae Boutique was born out of a desire to provide a positive customer experience and help women look and feel beautiful. Not only has the business model proved to be a success but the boutique was awarded the Connect “Best of Savannah” award this year. Fashion has the power to completely transform how we look and feel about ourselves and Morgan Rae is the perfect place to start your journey. Stop by 301 W Broughton St, Unit B, shop online or book a private styling and shopping appointment. What inspired you to start your successful boutique?

My retail journey started back in high school. I quickly fell in love with all things fashion related and enjoyed providing positive customer experiences by helping women look and feel beautiful. I have over ten years of styling and retail experience and it was time to take charge of my life and create a career for myself. It took late nights and long hours, years of working two jobs to save funds, loads of stress but I knew I could make the jump from working for someone else to becoming my own boss. I craved creative freedom and would stop at nothing to achieve my dream.

What are some Fall and Winter trends that people should add to their wardrobe?

The tie-dye trend is here to stay! For fall, we are seeing a more monochromatic tie-dye incorporating jewel tones and earthy colors. Another trend we are seeing continued from spring and summer are matching sets, a personal favorite. Matching lounge sets became a big trend while people were spending more time at home but you can easily wear this look in any casual setting.

What is your advice on holiday shopping this year so people can still enjoy but stay safe?

I strongly encourage everyone to shop small and support your local businesses this holiday season! Proper use of face masks along with enforced social distancing should ensure your safety while holiday shopping. At Morgan Rae, we offer private styling and shopping appointments after hours if a customer feels safer solo shopping. If shopping from your couch is more your style, we have our website (www.morganraeboutique.com) and our Instagram @shopmorganrae available for easy online shopping. Even if you are a local customer, you can choose to have your purchase shipped to your home or we will happily provide curbside pickup.

Are you planning any holiday events/sales/specials this season?

Our annual Black Friday Sale will be on November 27th with amazing deals and savings. The following day, Small Business Saturday, we will have an outdoor sidewalk sale with a storewide discount.

If people only buy one new staple for their fall wardrobe from Morgan Rae Boutique what do you suggest?

I highly recommend a new pair of jeans that fit well and make you feel confident. You can wear denim not only in fall but throughout the year. Jeans are a staple in your wardrobe and you can easily dress jeans with a silk blouse up or down with a t-shirt and flats. My favorite outfit combination for fall is a dark skinny pair of jeans, ankle bootie and a chunky knit sweater.

What makes you feel accomplished?

Returning customers who speak highly of the boutique and recommend shopping with us to their friends and family makes me feel the most successful. My goals have always circled around customer service and the pride that I take in making shopping fun and attainable for every woman.

What do you wear on a fall night out in Savannah?

The weather in Savannah is typically warmer than desired in the fall months. I recommend layering! Not only is layering trendy but practical for the weather. Our best selling denim jacket feels like butter, has slight distressing and is a fantastic layering piece. I always invite customers to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. I enjoy contrasting textures and would pair a rugged denim jacket with a silky slip dress for a night out in Savannah.

What do you love about Savannah?

Savannah’s southern charm along with the kind and generous people in the community largely contribute to why I love living here. I find joy in being surrounded by history, beautiful architecture and most of all, living on the coast.

Scout’s favorite question…What would you do if you only had one night to spend in Savannah?

If I only had one evening in Savannah I would start the night by strolling down Broughton Street and shopping at the local boutiques. Next, I would head to The Grove rooftop for a pre-dinner cocktail. My favorite restaurant is Garibaldi -try the crispy scored flounder. Alley Cat Lounge would be the last stop of the night with a few amazingly crafted cocktails.
