As you create your errand list, keep in mind what local markets offer — it’s not only groceries. There are great products to be found right here in Savannah and Scout is here to share a few of our favorite recent purchases.
Frali Gourmet’s Carreterra Sauce is a blend of fresh basil pesto, pine nuts, olive oil, soybean oil, and tomato sauce. This sauce made for one tasty eggplant parmigiana and without any additives, preservatives or sugar. The next time you are in the market for Italian delicacies, check out Frali Gourmet. You’ll not only want to grab a sauce…but did you know their authentic Italian pasta is slow dried for 26-28 hours? This gives it a classic taste and is more nutritious than industrial made pasta. You can check out all the Italian goodness at their store front at 217 W. Liberty or they can be found at the Forsyth Farmer’s Market on Saturdays.
Savannah Scone Company
Okay, Savannah Scone Company had me at gluten free scones. I placed an online order for gluten free cinnamon roll scones to be delivered to my home on Monday. I received a call when the scones were on the way and no contact delivery at exactly the time they promised. The scones arrived in a bakery box and as I opened my front door, the fresh baked aroma hit me. I didn’t even wait until the next morning…I dug right in! This is the best scone I have ever eaten. It was moist, flaky and full of flavor. If you have company coming in town, are hosting a brunch or just want a tasty baked good the SSC has the Scout seal of approval.
Cecil Mae Candles
I purchased this Cecil Mae candle from the Simply Potted bus at The Stables a few weekends ago during one of their events. I made the purchase because of the scent and a good salesman (Simply’s husband). I also appreciated the fact that the candle was 100% natural soy wax. When I got home I placed the candle in a central room and without even burning, the scent filled my home. I did a little digging and found that not only is this a great smelling, clean burning candle but there is a story behind it. Cecil Mae was named after the proprietor’s Grandmother. The namesake was the true definition of a strong Southern lady that was dedicated to her family, faith, friends and work. A good candle, a local buy and I will think of the Strong southern lady every time it’s burned.

Wild Light Honey
I picked up a bottle of Wild Light Honey from the Forsyth Farmers Market a few weeks ago and I’m hooked! The honey is local (which is said to help with allergies…yes please!), delicious and you can buy a bottle with the honeycomb which my daughter loves. I make a healthy breakfast of tortilla, nut butter, fruit and drizzle it with Wild Light Honey…it’s a hit with the whole family. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself sneaking off to a hiding spot to eat it, because everyone will want a bite!
