The weather is beautiful and we are looking at plenty of fall fun opportunities in the month of October. It took a few months but local businesses are really hitting their stride with figuring out how to host safe, COVID friendly events. Check out the list and purchase, mark your calendar or try something new this month. Be sure to check back as this list will be updated as new fun arises.


Holiday Farms Opening Day on October Weekends from 9am-6pm (no tickets or reservations needed)

Holiday Farms in Ridgeland, SC, has announced they are opening their 40 acres again this year. Please note the following open dates and times are for this season only October 2nd-31st, they will be open to the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9-6 and Sundays 12-6. Live music by the Nautical Wheelers on Saturdays 11-3 and Sundays 1-4, as well as, concessions Thursdays-Sundays 11-5. COVID restrictions will be posted closer to opening date. They will follow all required state mandated guidelines.

Madrac Farms 2020 Pumpkin Patch October 8th from 10:00am to 6:00pm through November 8th

Join them for the 2020 Pumpkin Patch at Madrac Farms. Georgia grown pumpkins, corn maze, hay play, tire playground, super slide, goats and more. Just $5 per person. COVID restrictions apply.


Fall Festival and Family Farm Weekend at Triple J Stables and Petting Zoo on October 17, 23rd & 24th (times differ daily)

Horse rides, petting zoo, bounce house, food truck, vendors, pumpkins for sale (cash only) and more. October 17th 11:00-1:00, October 23rd 5:30pm-7:30pm, October 24th 10:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-3:00pm. $10 per person ages walking and up. Must sign up prior to arrival…October 17th sign ups are available now the following weekend sign ups will start on October 5th. Fall Festival Art Market at Cedar House Gallery on October 17th from 11:00am to 6:00pm

Grab your mask and head over to Cedar House Gallery indoors and outdoor. The gallery and studios will be open to the public with a flow that will guide you through the house and out the back doors. There will be fall-themed kids crafts and live music in the courtyard space and an outdoor makers market in the back parking lot.


Mask-erade Gala at the Pinpoint Heritage Museum on October 17th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm

Join Pinpoint for an elegant evening under the stars at their gala fundraiser, Mask-erade! Don your finery and masks (of all kinds) for their fundraiser event, October 17th at the Pin Point Heritage Museum. Featuring brand new compositions by local composers and a preview of selections from their upcoming production of Gianni Schicchi, this event will also include a raffle, silent auction, as well as access to some of the museum’s fantastic exhibits for an authentic taste of Savannahian history. And keep your eyes peeled for one or two high-flying surprises. Wine, beer, hors d’oeuvres, and entertainment are included with your ticket to this one of a kind event. Fall Fest 2020 on Freeport Daufuskie Island hosted by Daufuskie Difference on October 17th all day

Fall Fair with the Humane Society of Greater Savannah on October 18th from 10:00am to 4:00pm (no tickets or reservations needed)

Come one, come all to join HSGS for their first annual Fall Fair located at the adoption center. October 18th from 10AM – 4PM, you will enjoy local vendors, food trucks, chili cook off, petting zoo, pumpkins, costume contest, adoptable animals and more! Luckily they have a large space where social distancing will be easily attainable throughout this event. Masks will be highly encouraged and hand sanitizer will be available. There will also be markers on the ground to remain six feet a part all all times while shopping. A limited number of guests will be allowed in the yards to pet the animals.

The Vegabonds Social Distance Tour at Southbound Brewing on October 22nd from 7:00pm to 10:00pm

The Vegabonds perform live in Savannah for the first time since COVID hit. Extra bonus they have added Isaac Smith to the line up. Come safely enjoy some live music!

The Hive Repertory Theatre in Rincon is presenting Cries in the Night by Paul Elliott on October 23,24 and 25th (times vary)

Looking for some delightfully creepy, socially distanced fun this Halloween? Come see THR’s spooky special event Cries in The Night. This show has adult language and scary paranormal scenes, so we suggest parental guidance for viewing. Because of Covid, they are limited to the number of tickets they can sell per show, so reserve yours now before they’re all scared away. No tickets will be sold at the door. Cries in the Night deals with the impact of early childhood experiences on our lives and afterlives, all couched in a ghost story for the stage that should chill even the most stalwart audience member.

Kids Halloween Treats Baking Class (ages 8-14) at Hewitt Oaks on October 24th from 9:00am to 1:00pm

The Kids Halloween Treats Baking Class is a chance for aspiring young chefs to learn new baking skills and create an array of delicious Halloween desserts, with fun challenges and tips for success provided by Hewitt Oak chefs. They will have a pumpkin carving contest, learn how to toast pumpkin seeds, decorate Halloween cookies and make candy corn blondie bars. Included in the $69 class is all baking supplies and ingredients. A kid-friendly lunch will be provided with each child preparing their own dessert. Campers will be able to take home a goodie box of treats prepared by them to share with their family & friends.

41st Annual Candle Lantern Tour at Fort McAllister in Richmond Hill on October 24th from 6:40pm to 9:40pm

Experience the fort in a whole new light with a guided candlelit tour – an annual tradition since 1980. Living history programs include soldiers performing their evening duties and civilian life during the Civil War. Tours include stops at the blacksmith’s shop, hot shot furnace, hospital, powder magazine, jail and more. As is tradition, period songs will be performed by the Minick Family. Visitors will also get to see an exclusive nighttime cannon firing. There will be only 10 tour groups of 10 people with specific departure times (beginning at 6:40 pm and ending at 9:40 pm). When you pre-register, you’ll choose your time, based on availability. Take advantage of this personalized experience, socially distanced in an outdoor environment. Wag-O-Weekend on October 24th and October 25th from 12:00pm to 5:00pm

Renegade Paw Rescue and the Hipster Hound hot Wag-O-Weenend which is a pet-friendly community event that takes place in downtown Savannah. Money raised supports local animal rescues in their mission to place pets in ‘furever’ homes, subsidize no-barrier community spay and neuter, and support community education programs. This year’s event will take place over two days to allow for a less-crowded trick or treat route and social distancing at treat stops. A $10 donation gets you the official treat destination map, wristband and Doggy Swag Bag. Pre-orders available now and can be picked up before Oct 24th.

Hewitt Oaks’ Spooky Bash is an indoor/outdoor Halloween extravaganza featuring tantalizing hors d’oeuvres served by our zombies, a two-course plated dinner, and dangerously tasty signature cocktails. Tricks, Treats & Trains at Georgia State Railroad Museum on October 31st from 10:00am to 12:00pm

The cost to attend Tricks, Treats, and Trains is $5 per person for all participants, ages eighteen months and older. A discounted combination ticket including admission to Savannah Children’s Museum and Tricks, Treats, and Trains is $10 per person. Pre-registration is required at Registration will close at midnight the day before the event. Admission is free to Coastal Heritage Society members. Savannah Children’s Museum will also be open and offering Halloween-themed activities throughout the day. Savannah Children’s Museum will be open from 9:30am-2:30pm and is an additional fee. For the safety of all staff and guests, we will be observing social distancing protocols and implementing enhanced sanitizing procedures.
