Allison Mol is the face behind the brand spanking new Marsh & Co. which opens today at 444 Johnny Mercer Blvd. She is no stranger to the market as she is the owner of Marsh Apothecary, a natural soap, lotion, skin care, bath and candle product line. Together, with her husband Eric, decided to take it one step further and open their own store front. The store is part of the “maker movement” where handmade and local goods are carefully curated from talented artists and makers from the coast and then brought together under one roof. This all comes together in a clean, modern & sophisticated space filled with amazing, unique items. The European feel of the store is complimented by a coffee bar which serves coffee, tea and even the delicious Dutch Stroopwafels. You’ll notice that Allison has an incredible eye for beautiful design and Marsh & Co. is a unique and inspiring small business that we gladly welcome into our community.

What are some unique finds that people will find only at Marsh & Co.?

You can shop everything from dog treats to one of a kind shark tooth jewelry to bath products to handwoven textiles or even adopt a sea turtle through Caretta Research Project (our selected non-profit charity). We have 45 vendors and each one is unique in their own way.

How do you define the style of the store?

The style of the store is clean, modern and sophisticated. Eric is from the Netherlands and we visit yearly. We really wanted to create European style and feeling at Marsh & Co. We offer coffee, tea and even stroopwafels (a traditional Dutch cookie). We also have upbeat music and a stylish atmosphere which is not typical of stores in the area. I drew my inspiration from stores like Benneton or even the Limited Express from the late 1980’s to early 1990’s. We really did not want to be like any other store in Savannah.

How would people go about showcasing their talents in your space?

Artists and makers are carefully selected. I reached out to several artists after the most recent Craft Scout event in November. I ask myself “Would I buy this for myself or as a gift?” If the answer is yes then I would reach out to them. But if we feel that we have too many of one offering (such as jewelry, wall art or bath products) then we will limit vendors. I like to check out a maker’s instagram or facebook page to get a better feel of the kind of work they produce. If you think your work would fit well, then send me a DM via Facebook or Instagram and I will check it out. We do currently have a wait list.

What are some of the items you are most excited for people to shop?

We have carefully selected talented artists and makers from the coast. There are so many unique and amazing items to shop that it is hard to pick a favorite. But I think we are most proud of the Gallery walls filled with local artists’ work.  I also wanted to incorporate some hand picked home decor, Marsh & Co. branded products and seasonal items (Turkish beach towels, hats, beach bags, and flip flops) to fill in the gaps throughout to store.

What are the dates and times people can come visit Marsh & Co.?

We will officially open March 1st. Our hours will be 11a-5p Tuesday-Thursday and 11a-6p Friday-Saturday. We are located at 444 Johnny Mercer Blvd in Westwind Plaza on Wilmington Island. We are planning a Grand Opening Celebration March 4-5th with two giveaways filled with our awesome vendor products!
