District Live, an exciting new live music venue at Plant Riverside District in Savannah, Ga., will present The Johnny Mercer Experience, a dazzling show featuring the iconic hits and award-winning songs of Savannah native Johnny Mercer, on Johnny Mercer’s birthday. This family-friendly celebration will honor the songwriter’s legacy and impact on his hometown with a cabaret-style show in a state-of-the-art performance venue. The Johnny Mercer Experience cast is led by a talented trio, including Grammy Award-nominated singer, songwriter and jazz performer Stacie Joy Orrico; accomplished Broadway and Off-Broadway musical director Kim Douglas Steiner; and acclaimed vocalist and American Traditions Competition finalist Roger Moss. Considered one of the greatest American songwriters of all time, Johnny Mercer was born in Savannah on November 18, 1909, and wrote the lyrics to more than 1,700 songs from the 1930s to the 1970s. A four-time Oscar winner and 18-time honoree, Mercer crafted the soundtrack of a generation, including iconic hits like “Hooray for Hollywood,” “Accentuate the Positive,” “Come Rain or Come Shine” and the Academy Award-winning “Moon River” from the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961).

After some mingling and relaxation, Chefs Christopher and Bethany Hewitt will show us how to prepare this mouthwatering dinner. The best part is you won’t have to do any of the work! After the cooking demonstration, you’ll enjoy a plated dinner together with your choice of wine and beer. They have tables for 2, 4, 6, or 8 — so bring your significant other or come with a group of friends. They’ll show you their tips and secrets for preparing each dish, and you’ll get all the recipes to take home with you. Cost is $179 per couple and includes all food and beverages. 21 and over only. Holiday Lights Launch Festival, November 20th-6:00pm-10:00pm
Each fall, the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens experiences a magical metamorphosis. Millions of twinkling lights are strung across 5 acres to transform our beautiful botanical garden into an enchanted wonderland. This year’s event will again be held as a drive thru beginning Friday, November 26th and continuing on select nights through Christmas Eve. Prefer to walk the Holiday Lights? Join them on Saturday, November 20th for the Holiday Lights Launch Festival. This is a family-friendly event that includes live music, a “Merry Market” featuring local artisans and vendors. Kids (young and old) can enjoy smores stations, arts and crafts and a special visit with Santa Claus. Food Trucks will also be on hand for food purchase. Tickets for this one night event must be pre-purchased and tickets are limited.

This year Renegade Paws Rescue, Humane Society for Greater Savannah and Skidaway Island State Park are bringing Pups and Trucks back! Pups and Trucks is a day celebrating love for your furry friend and food! On this day, there will be pet rescue organizations with adoptable dogs to meet, local vendors and a few of Savannah’s best food trucks. The vendors include local artists, pet supplies, dog treats, and more. $5 parking fee is required. Pets must be leashed.
