Oktoberfest 2020 is upon us and, it’s never too early to start planning. Please see below some of the venues who are still participating in some good, safe, social distanced fun. A bonus tip from Scout, the only words you will need to know for the day…“Servus!” the informal Bavarian greeting, alongside the more formal “Grüß Gott” (groos got), the only ways you should greet your fellow festival goers from behind your mask.

If you are interested in the tradition behind Oktoberfest it started as a weeks-long tradition that dates back hundreds of years. The original Oktoberfest was held in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Everyone in Munich was invited to eat and drink for five days straight. The celebration wound up being such a success that it promptly became an annual tradition eventually extending into September to better suit the harvest.
